    Spiritual Marketing

Incredible book. Let go of what you've been taught. Let go of what your logical, practical left-brain knows. This book teaches us how to use the natural laws of the Universe to create what we DO want...instead of focusing on what we don't want (which really creates more of what we don't want).
    Influencing With Integrity

    Attracting Perfect Customers

    Sugar Blues, by William Duffy

Many clients who come to me for weight or health issues are addicted to white, processed sugar and flour. Sugar is everywhere, even hidden in foods you would not suspect, and it tears down the immune system and causes a lot of health problems, including hypoglycemia, which later can turn into diabetes. There are even small children suffering from diabetes now, and it is no wonder with all of the cereals and foods loaded with sugar. Sugar is a nationwide epidemic. Learn what sugar does to your body, and how you can heal and get over this addiction.
When You and Your Mother Can't Be Friends: Resolving the Most Complicated Relationship of Your Life, by Victoria Secunda

Most of us turn out to be the way we are because of our parents. Most of my clients have unresolved "mommy" or "daddy" issues. This book even explains the relationships of siblings with the father and the mother as well as each other. I would recommend this book even if you do have a healthy relationship with your mother.
Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings, by Lynn Grabhorn

The title of this book says it all. We really do create everything by our feelings...so what are you waiting for? :O)
Loving What Is, by Byron Katie

For the past 15 years, Byron Katie has dedicated her life to a revolutionary new process of inquiry that she calls “The Work”. The Work is a four-step self-enquiry exercise that guarantees freedom from emotional bondage by allowing you to see your problems from an entirely different perspective through helping us recognize the difference between truth and fiction. She asks us to first think of a pressing problem we are experiencing with a loved one, or an issue in society, and then go inside ourselves to find the answers to four seemingly simple but extremely powerful questions:

    1. Is it true?
    2. Can you absolutely know that it’s true?
    3. How do you react when you think that thought?
    4. Who would you be without that thought?

Once the questions have been asked, Katie suggests that we turn our projections and judgments around in a process she calls “the Turnaround”. This means that the statement is reversed so that what was once “Paul should understand me,” now becomes, “Paul should not understand me” and “I should understand me” and “I should understand Paul.”

This seemingly simple process can be profoundly mind opening to those of us who want to let go of the problems in our lives. By taking responsibility for our own feelings and actions, letting go can be very easy. But even though most of us want to get rid of our problems, letting go of “our story,” as Katie puts it, can be very difficult. To make the process easier, Katie requires us to talk to our inner selves to find the answers and we must be truly honest with ourselves.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey

This is another book I owned and read years ago -- with more dog-eared pages from years of reference. It is time I invest in a new version of the book...because I still choose to live by the principles of this book.
The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, by Julia Cameron

Book Review – by Loretta Peters

The Artist’s Way – A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, by Julia Cameron

“A course in discovering and recovering your creative self, this book is for writers, poets, actors, painters, musicians – and creative people in all walks of life.”

At the suggestion of my vocal coach at the time, I began reading this book in March of 1997. I had actually purchased the book long before that, but I wasn’t quite ready for the amount of time, work and dedication it would take to accomplish this twelve (12) week course.

Prior to my reading The Artist’s Way, I was taking vocal coaching, writing songs, practicing piano and saxophone, and then something happened. I began experiencing health problems as a result of working approximately 70 hours per week in an extremely busy and stressful law firm as a legal assistant -- building someone else’s dream, but leaving very little time for MY dream. I was in and out of the hospital for a few weeks, and my music career was placed on hold. I had to heal. Needless to say, I left the legal field to pursue a higher salary with less stress. At that time, I became somewhat reclusive, and began to read The Artist’s Way. Some of my friends, and even my boyfriend at the time, understood my need to withdraw for awhile, and allowed me the time and freedom to do what I needed to do. I lost other friends altogether, who could not understand that I needed to be alone and out of the social circuit for awhile.

Due to the extensive writing and digging down to the very core of my soul, this course took me five and a half months to complete. It was the very first time in my life that I actually completed an entire project on my own from start to finish. I was more determined and focused than I had ever been. Something was happening to me. I was overcome with this incredible desire to learn, to grow, and to heal…to become all I can possibly be as a human being. After completing The Artist’s Way, my life would never again be the same.

The author, Julia Cameron, ex-wife of the famous film producer, Martin Scorcese, and who was friends with Steven Spielberg when he was a young, struggling producer, has a story of her own. She writes about her own “writer’s block,” how she overcame potential alcoholism, and how she made it through her painful divorce.

One paragraph in The Artist’s Way that Julia Cameron wrote has made a profound impact on my life. To this day, I recall these words:

“…pain is what it took to teach me to pay attention. In times of pain, when the future is too terrifying to contemplate and the past is too painful to remember, I have learned to pay attention to right NOW. The precise moment I was in was always the only safe place for me. Each moment, taken alone, was always bearable. In the exact now, we are all, always, all right. Yesterday the marriage may have ended. Tomorrow the cat may die. The phone call from the lover, for all my waiting, may not ever come, but just at the moment, just now, that’s all right. I am breathing in and out. Realizing this, I began to notice that each moment was not without its beauty.”

I must be honest when I write that doing this work was not without pain. Some of the writing and exercises I did brought up issues that had been suppressed for many years – some even stemming from as far back as my early childhood. Any time I have worked through issues in my life, there has always been some pain involved. It is part of the process. Fear and pain are necessary tools to help us move forward. We must work through them before we can overcome them and let them go. I finally had the guts to do this, and I did.

My life was touched in a very positive way as a result of taking this course. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Please take note, however, that it involves a lot of work. The more core issues you have, the more intense the recovery will be. While most of the exercises in this book are fun, some of them can be pretty intense. The more honest you are with yourself, the more painful it can sometimes be…but without working through the pain, the growth continues to be stubbed, and the creativity stifled. It is much more rewarding to work through the fears, work through the pain – experience it – and let it go.

Cameron teaches us that creative expression is the natural direction of life. This book can help us overcome blocks, some of which include limiting beliefs, fear, self-sabotage, jealousy, guilt and addictions. Cameron teaches us how to tap into the higher power that connects human creativity with the creative energies of the universe. If you are a songwriter, musician, work in the creative arts, or simply desire to live life to the fullest and become all you can possibly be, then this book is for you.

The Artist’s Way can help bring out the inner child in all of us, which is where our creativity lies. The inner child in us is the very key to our recovery, growth and creativity. There is an inner artist child in all of us that desires so much to come out and live life to the fullest. We are all here to live, learn and grow. I hope that by my sharing a little of my own story, that it will touch some of you enough to purchase this book and head down your own path of individual growth…as a human being, and as an artist.

Healing the Soul of America: Reclaiming Our Voices As Spiritual Citizens, by Marianne Williamson

Once again, Marianne Williamson emanates from a space of pure love.
You Can Heal Your Life, by Louise Hay

I remember owning an older version of this book for many years. That old book was so used and dog-eared that I finally treated myself to this gorgeous new gift edition a couple of years ago...and I have given this book as a gift to many of my friends. This book is the "Bible" to physical ailments. For every physical symptom, there is an underlying emotional cause. When we heal the underlying emotions, the physical body takes care of itself. I use this book with almost all of my clients who have physical ailments.
The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober

Has your child been diagnosed as ADD? Is your child a genius but having problems in school? Do you have a child who is "different"? Lee Carroll and Jan Tober explain the new kids. Times are changing, and so are we -- including our children. What is an Indigo Child? This book will show you how to interact with your children -- and will also explain the necessity of changing the way they are taught in schools and why our school systems need to change.
Healing With the Angels: How the Angels Can Assist You in Every Area of Your Life, by Doreen Virtue

Have you been noticing lately that when you look at the clock, it's either 11:11, 1:11, 2:22, 3:33, or do you frequently see 777 on license plates or see other master numbers every where you look? Well, these numbers are wake-up calls. These are messages from your Angels. Doreen Virtue will teach you how to communicate with your Angels.
Love, Medicine and Miracles: Lessons Learned About Self-Healing from a Surgeon's Experience With Exceptional Patients, by Bernie S. Siegel

10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace, by Wayne W. Dyer

Another incredible book by Wayne Dyer.
There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem, by Wayne W. Dyer

Wayne Dyer is another one of my favorite authors and speakers (and so is everyone listed here). Occasionally, I'll catch him on public television or The Wisdom Channel, and I've seen him speak on the contents of this book many times...and I never get tired of it. It is so inspirational. It always lifts me if I am feeling tired or discouraged.
Conversations With God, an Uncommon Dialogue (Book 1), by Neale Donald Walsch

Conversations With God, an Uncommon Dialogue (Book 2), by Neale Donald Walsch

Conversations With God, an Uncommon Dialogue (Book 3), by Neale Donald Walsch

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, by Deepak Chopra

This book will always have a special place in my heart, as it is one of the first books I read several years ago that started my path of learning and evolution. I love Deepak Chopra. He has such a beautiful, loving energy about him (as do all the authors of the books I have listed here), and I love to listen to him speak during his workshops. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success shares the knowledge of simple, yet powerful, principles to be used in our daily lives so that we may be more fulfilled, successful, happy and abundant.
Eat Right for Your Type, by Peter J. D'Adamo

I recommend this book to many of my clients, especially those who wish to achieve and maintain their ideal weight. I also recommend it to clients who are having health issues. If you have an allergy to a certain food, this book will tell you why. Our blood type can tell us a lot about how to take care of ourselves. This book will tell you the strengths and weaknesses of your blood type. It will teach you to eliminate the foods that are not good for your particular blood type, and will show you what foods are most beneficial for you to eat in order to heal your body quickly and stay healthy. If you simply wish to achieve and maintain your ideal weight, this book will teach you what foods actually promote weight gain and weight reduction for your particular blood type. After all, diets do not work. This is a very healthy and realistic way to eat, and you can still enjoy many of your favorite foods.
The Dark Side of the Light Chasers, by Debbie Ford

We all have a shadow side. This book takes Carl Jung’s shadow work to a deeper, spiritual understanding. Whenever people push our buttons, it is simply because they are mirroring something we need to work on ourselves. This book will show you how to look for the gifts that others are mirroring back to you, and it will teach you to own and embrace your shadow self. In order to really love ourselves, we must love ALL aspects of ourselves. We integrate the light with the dark. Trying to get rid of our “dark” side doesn’t work. Stifling or trying to push negative parts of ourselves under a rug doesn’t work, either. We must own and embrace all aspects of ourselves -- both positive and negative. The negative parts of us are our gifts. They tell us what we need to work on. We must integrate the dark side with the light in order to be truly happy, whole and complete.
Feelings Buried Alive Never Die, by Karol K. Truman

If you want to get to the root of your feelings, emotions, and understand why you have sudden emotional outbursts from time to time -- then this book is for you. It will assist you in getting to the deep emotional issues that have long been stifled -- not only from childhood, but as far back as actually being in the womb. We were already programming ourselves for success or failure simply by what our mothers were experiencing during pregnancy. This book is a must for complete healing.

The script on p. 93 is very powerful. Every time negative feelings surface or emotions come up for you that you don’t understand – use the script. If you are the type of person who enjoys reading and working through issues, then you’ll find this work to be quite rewarding. This book will really help you release the old patterns, old ways of thinking, and will help you get to the very core of your issues.
